In this story, Remus is 5 years old and loves food. The story makes many descriptions/references to how he enjoys these foods, which to him is pleasurable but innocent but can be read sexually by an adult reader. Hence all of the “Sort of” notes in the kinks/warnings. For example, the “Bestiality” notation comes from Remus playing with his dinner stew, smearing it on himself and even putting it down his pants. He goes outside and takes off his clothes and his neighbour/uncle’s pet crup comes over and starts licking it off. Remus enjoys this and starts stealing condiments from the kitchen to repeat this. But at 5 years of age he isn’t thinking of this as sex, much less bestiality, and its told from his POV rather then an adult’s.

The “Cannibalistic” issue involves one of the fairy tales described (juniper tree), Remus’s pretending to be a bread and onion pudding, and his wanting his Uncle to “eat him all up”. Again, this can be read innocently, or sexually. He is certainly finding it pleasurable and it involves lots of tickling and rubbing himself on the floor/surfaces and touching, but he’s not thinking of this as anything other than a game. He involves his uncle in the game, and its up to you if you see this as appropriate or not for an adult to play with a 5 year old (its not explained if the uncle sees it as sexual or not). Remus expresses disappointment that his uncle didn’t –really- bite him when pretending to eat him.

Through out the story, Remus’ mum reads him bedtime stories from a fairy tale book his uncle gave him. These include Hansel and Gretel (which he fell in love with because of the gingerbread house and which gave him the idea of the pudding game), The Juniper Tree (in which the stepmother kills the stepson, cooks him as stew and feeds him to his family), and Little Red Riding Hood (the one where the wolf eats everyone, the woodcutter cuts the wolf’s stomach open and everyone jumps out unscathed).

On certain nights, Remus is not allowed to visit his uncle. His father jokingly says its because he is a Big Bad Wolf who will eat you all up. (Remus’s uncle often jokingly tells Remus he is so adorable he could eat him all up too). Remus’s mother does not like this joke. She says his uncle is just sick that night.

The next time his uncle is “sick” Remus wants to do something nice for him. So he sneaks outside with a bowl of stew to bring to his uncle. The doors are locked, the crup is whinging and upset; he tries to comfort the crup by smearing stew on himself as he often would do with the crup (see bestiality note above). Remus tries using a twig as a wand, it doesn’t work, but when he throws it in frustration at the door, he does wandless magic and it opens. He enters the house only to be attacked- his uncle is a werewolf. Remus is badly bitten on his shoulder.

His parents realise where Remus went missing to just in time, and one of them arrives in time to shoot his uncle, killing him, a top Remus. He’s seen recovering at the end, in bed, with sugar cookies on a platter next to him (he often referred to cookies and other sugary/white and round objects in the story in good ways. Now he can’t look at them.)

Of course Remus is now a werewolf.

The way you summarized this made me wonder why I thought this was a dark fic at first, but really its not. Its a fic that takes you through many emotions because it starts out with the innocence of childhood and playfullness but you weave a lot of imagery throughout that readers can interpret as sexual as well as a bit worrisome because they know what is going to happen eventually to the sweet innocent boy.

To me, dark fics are not interpretations of what has happened but interpretations of things that *could* happen or *might* happen if given a set of circumstances.

On the site you have it R rated and that seems about right to me.

Honestly, I don't really know what a dark fic is! I asked on my LJ a while back, and given the responses, I think its an individual thing, everyone has their own definitions.
